One Injured In Crash

A serious crash Saturday in Lexington sends a motorcyclist to the hospital with critical injuries.
Police say the S.U.V turned in front of the motorcycle when turning left onto Man o' War from Boston road.
The motorcycle struck the passenger side of S.U.V, throwing the rider off his bike.
He was transported to U.K. Hospital with critical injuries.
No one in the S.U.V. was hurt.

People should know the facts before they start criticizing drivers in accidents. The driver did not have red light and was not talking on a cell phone at the time of the accident. The motorcyclist was speeding must have going pretty fast if they were able to spin the SUV completely around. People have a duty to drive at a safe speed. The driver was clearly not out to hit anyone and in fact, the motorcyclist hit the SUV. This is a sad situation and there is no need for people to make assertions that they know nothing about.

I saw the accident and was the first person to get to the rider. He was unconscious and bleeding heavily from the face. He did have a full face helmet on but he t-boned the SUV. He hit the SUV then flew into the air landing on his back. The impact spun the SUV 180 degrees. The bike was destroyed. The front forks and wheel were snapped off and located near the back wheel. Various other parts (airbox, battery, plastic, etc) were 20'-30' from impact. He was alive/semi-conscious when the EMT's took him away but his breathing was very heavy and he was in obvious pain. I would guess that he had severe internal trauma. FYI, the SUV did turn left in front of him (both had green lights) but he was speeding big time. Both motorcyclists and drivers have to be more careful at intersections.

When is that intersection going to be safer period!!!??? My daughter and her friend were hit by a car there last October. The cross walk lights don't work AT ALL!!! This has been reported to the city of Lexington, however, they don't seem to know who is responsible for the upkeep!! How many people are going to die or be critically injured in that intersection before something is done!!??
