Salad Mix Recalled In Several States In Latest E. Coli Scare

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Dole salad mix with multiple Ohio connections has been recalled in the state and at least eight others.

The company says a bag of the Dole's Hearts Delight salad tested positive for E. coli in Canada. There are no reports of anyone getting sick from the product.

Dole says the romaine, green leaf and butter lettuce hearts that went into the blend were grown in Ohio, California and Colorado, then processed at Dole's plant in Springfield in western Ohio.

The voluntary recall affects all packages of Hearts Delight sold in the U.S. and Canada with a September 19th "best if used by" date and certain production codes ("A24924A" or "A24924B").

Dole spokesman Marty Ordman says the latest recall also affects packages sold in states including Illinois, Indiana, and Tennessee starting around September eighth.
