Residents Concerned Some Wildcat Fans May Be Too Wild

A big win for the Wildcats turned into a big headache for some people who live near the UK campus.
Homeowners along Elizabeth St. say after Saturday's game they dealt with everything from wild parties to bonfires in their driveways.

Tuesday night those neighbors and others from around the city met to voice concerns about partying they say has created a negative image of Lexington, and dangerous conditions for residents. Many at the meeting say city and UK officials need to step up and crack down on out of control parties.

Several Lexington officials were at the meeting. Mayor Newberry says he plans to take residents' suggestions seriously.

So, if I choose to live near a college campus, I should EXPECT to have a bunch of drunken idiots around me, and that's ok? The last time I checked, there is no law against celebrations, but I seem to recall "Public Intoxication", "Possession of Alcohol by Minors", "Disturbing the Peace" etc. If we are going to get on the topic of people's rights (i.e. - the college student's right to get hammered and act like idiots) let's not forget the rights of the OTHER property OWNERS who presumably wouldn't want to stay up until four in the morning listenting to these inconsiderate jerks.

You chose to live where you live. If this has been going on since time began, why did you move into that area?! Duh...

Surely by now people buying or renting homes in that neighborhood know about its reputation. If you live on or near a college campus, expect it.

These students need to concentrate on getting an education and making a life for themselves instead of getting drunk and acting like idiots.

College students are going to party. If you don't like it move-I did.

I know students who used to rent a house on State Street and the partying never stopped. This has been a long time coming for that neighborhood.
