It's that time of year again for back to school shopping and parents are looking for ways to stretch their dollar in these tough economic times.
From food, to clothing and school supplies.. parents and even kids are looking for ways to save this back to school season.
Dakota Schoff says “I was hoping I could get some school supplies like paper and all that stuff for pretty cheap so we didn't have to spend a lot of money to get stuff."
With many local stores offering discounted prices...Tracy Schoff says she’s been shopping around to find the best bargains. “Just the clothes in general... were cheaper than some of the other places... I mean for the same t-shirt.”
Lots of stores have ways to help parents save. K-Mart has a lay away program aimed especially at helping those who need a little extra time.
The Hazard K-Mart store manager Michael Utt says “By coming in and being able to put it on lay away they have 8 weeks to pay for it instead of just paying for it that week.”
Some of the items on the market are geared especially towards kids to make reading and writing more enjoyable.
Fifteen year old Doran Brantley says “E-book is where you go online and get the book...it’s a little droid thing...and it does e-book and has free wi-fi...it’s really cool.”
You can find some stellar back to school specials. K-Mart has .25 cent crayons and .50 note books … making the essentials affordable.
