SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police say charges are pending against a driver after his passenger was killed in an overnight crash.
Police say it happened just before 11:00 Sunday night on U.S. 25, Cincinnati Pike, just north of Georgetown. They say the driver 30-year-old Anthony Scott Ryman, of Florida, lost control of the car in a curve and hit a culvert. Police say the car flipped several times, then hit a utility pole.
The Scott County coroner, John Goble, identified the passenger in the vehicle as 49-year-old Brian Armstrong. Goble says Armstrong is a Tennessee native who's been living in Scott County for the past six years. Armstrong was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say the driver, was taken to UK hospital but is expected to be released sometime Monday.
The road was shut down for several hours while crews cleared the scene.
Officials say both speed and alcohol did play a factor in the crash. Police say charges are pending the results of a blood alcohol test.
