NICHOLAS COUNTY/HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Fire destroyed two barns in Harrison and Nicholas counties early Tuesday morning. The barns were located on Republican Pike in Nicholas and Harrison Counties.

Nicholas County Fire officials told WKYT that both fires appear to be suspicious. They also said the fires are the latest in a string of suspected arsons.

We spoke to a captain with the Harrison County Fire Department who says the barn fire on the Harrison County side is suspicious because it had no electricity running to it.

By the time fire crews arrived on scene last night, all they could do was contain the flames from spreading into the nearby woods.

These two fires come less than a week after a string of suspicious fires just a few miles away in Nicholas County.

Investigators are still following leads on those and have not made any arrests so far.

Investigators estimate these fires have caused hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in damage to the property owners.
