Baseball program holds fundraiser for Travis Gaines

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- Another baseball program reached out to help an injured player.

Dunbar baseball player Travis Gaines became paralyzed after a spring break accident in Florida.

All gate and concession proceeds from Dunbar's game at Lexington Catholic this evening are being donated to a fund for Gaines.

Even though Gaines is on another team, the Knights say he's a part of their community.

"Well it's just something you can't imagine going through," said Taylor Brooks, Lexington Catholic Head Coach. "He's a member of the baseball community and we're a tight nit family here in Lexington. So anything we can do to help the Gaines family we're going to try to do it."

The umpires from tonights game will be helping out as well they plan to donate their checks to the Travis Gaines fund.
