Benefit to be held in honor of Danville couple killed at thrift shop

DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - While many wait for answers to learn who and why three people were gunned down in a Danville thrift shop, some and finding ways to honor the lives lost.

This Saturday, a benefit will be held in Pulaski county in honor of Angela and Michael Hockensmith, the co-owners of ABC Gold, Games and More.

Mike and Angela Hockensmith belonged to the Ferguson Baptist Church for three years and left behind a lasting impression.

Pastor Jason Moore says it has been an overwhelming two weeks for the Ferguson Baptist Church congregation after learning that the Hockensmith's were murdered at their thrift shop in Danville.

"They got their start here in this church, said Brother Jason Moore, the pastor of the church. "This was their home church. Baby showers and their families. You name it." He says the Hockensmith's were all about serving others.

Now the church plans to help the loved ones that Mike and Angela leave behind. A member came up with the idea to host a motorcycle benefit.

The ride will begin at noon on Saturday at the Ferguson Baptist Church's parking lot in Pulaski County. Brother Jason says there is no fee to ride but all donations will go to the Hockensmith family.

Brother Jason hopes this weekend's ride is the first of many in their honor.
