Berea woman says she woke up to an intruder in her bedroom

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - It's a terrifying discovery, a woman says she woke up to find a man with a knife in her bedroom.

Berea Police say the burglar broke into the woman's house on First Street Monday.

The victim told us she was woken up early Monday morning after she heard a loud noise, that's when she realized there was a man in her bedroom.

She says he was opening her dresser and when he realized she was awake he put one hand across her face. The woman tells us the intruder had a knife in his other hand.

The victim says he told her he didn't want to hurt her, but that he needed money, then he left.

That's when police were called. They say about 500 dollars worth of items were missing, including some cash, a cell phone and some medicine.

Investigators say the man they're looking for is a tall white male, who was wearing a hoodie, but the victim tells us she didn't get a clear look at his face.

On the same day as that crime a man just a few blocks away reported some tools stolen from his truck. Police say They are looking to see if these crimes are connected.

Berea Police tell us they also had some car break-ins in that area.
