MURRAY, Ky. (AP) - A spokeswoman for Gov. Steve Beshear says he does not plan to apply for the presidency of Murray State University.

Beshear's communications director, Kerri Richardson, told the Murray Ledger & Times that she's not sure where word started of the governor's interest in the job, but there's no foundation for it.

A search committee is seeking a replacement for former president Randy Dunn, who started his new job as the president of Youngstown State University on Monday.

The MSU Board of Regents formed a presidential search committee last month, and the committee plans to meet July 26. The committee plans at that meeting to choose a search firm to assist in the search for a new president.
