Boyle Co. fire victim positively identified

BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Investigators have positively identified a body found in burned out home this week in Boyle County.

The victim is 37-year-old Margaret "Libby" Moore. The state medical examiner confirmed the identity using dental records.

Moore died after fire destroyed her home on Venetian Way in Danville early Wednesday morning. Her family told police she was home at the time of the fire. Cadaver dogs were used to find the body after the fire was put out.

The Boyle County Coroner also tells us Moore's cause of death was smoke inhalation.

The man who called 911 to report the fire was several blocks away.

"I'm just looking at it. There's a big blaze in the distance and I figure it's on Venetian Way," he said.

That caller guided emergency crews to the home. According to his call the fire was already coming out of the roof by the time firefighters arrived.

"It's breaking glass already. It's in the back, it's all over. The whole house is covered, I hope no one is home," the caller said.

Moore's husband and two of her sons were spending the night at a family cabin.

Police records show that on Tuesday police were at the home twice. Once in the morning to check on a report of a domestic disturbance and again that night because someone at the address requested paperwork to file an emergency protective order.

The home has been fenced off by investigators but a makeshift memorial has been set up near the fence.

A memorial fund has been established to help Libby Moore's family. It's at Farmers National Bank in Perryville.
