BENTON, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky transportation officials say the Eggner's Ferry Bridge over Kentucky Lake will reopen in time for the Memorial Day weekend.
A ship brought down one span of the bridge on Jan. 26.
A contractor hoisted a replacement span into place and the concrete deck has now been poured. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd said on Wednesday the contractor was removing forms used in pouring the deck and curbs.
The bridge carries U.S. 68 between the western shore of the lake and the Land Between the Lakes recreation area. It is vital to summer tourism in the region.
