Burglary attempt leads Lexington police to growing operation

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police responded to a possible burglary early Tuesday morning but instead of finding an intruder, they say they found an elaborate marijuana growing operation.

Police say someone broke into Advanced Video Services on North Broadway a little after midnight Tuesday morning.

Whey they searched the home, they say they found twelve small pot plants on the first floor.

After executing a search warrant, police say they found another two dozen plants in the basement and an outbuilding, along with plumbing, lighting and an exhaust unit for the operation.

Police have arrested 55-year-old Mark Cascio, they say he will be charged with Cultivating Marijuana Over Five Plants, which is a felony.
