Car chase turns into foot pursuit in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) It was an intense search in Lexington Thursday night as police tried to track down a wanted man.

Lexington Police say they followed the suspect from I-75 to a hotel before he got away.

Police were posted up at the Days Inn off North Broadway on Haggard Lane for several hours after they say the hotel’s parking lot is where a car chase ended and a foot pursuit began.

They say the chase started around 8:00 Thursday night when police spotted the subject driving south on I-75.

Officers say they caught up with him around the 115 mile mark but police say the suspect led them on a car chase for two miles before he pulled off onto Exit 113.

After that, we're told the man drove about a quarter of a mile before pulling into the Days Inn parking lot which is where police say the suspect set off on foot.

Police cannot tell us what the suspect is wanted for but they say he is someone they've been looking for for a while.

Lt. Bacon with the Lexington Police Department says the man was driving silver Ford Taurus with Kentucky tags.

Police say they're still actively searching for the suspect they did not release a description of him.
