LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police were called to a home on Hedgewood Court, near Woodhill Drive after two children called 911 to say two men, one of them possibly armed, had burst into their house.

Police say the call came in around 1:45 in the morning on Monday. According to officials, the two children were in the home, along with two adults, when two men chased a third man inside the house and began assaulting him. Police also say one of the suspects may have been armed with an assault rifle.

WKYT's Whitney Wetzel spoke to the homeowner, who told her he was still trying to come to grips with what had happened. "I didn't know, until after he left. I did see something in his hand. I thought 'oh my god if he had a gun he could've killed us all.' Really he could have," John Loyd said. "I've still got goosebumps."

No one living inside the home was hurt, and the gunmen and the victim all ran from the home before police got there.

Police say they have a limited description of the suspects.
