Coalition pushing to speed up bridge project

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A coalition of businesses is asking for help to get the Brent Spence Bridge project on the fast track.

The "Build Our New Bridge Now" coalition has released a blitz of radio and TV ads using personal stories from drivers to paint the old span on the Kentucky-Ohio border as slow, overused and outdated.

They are pushing for a public-private partnership to get construction started in two years, instead of five.

The Brent Spence Bridge recently turned 49.
