Police searching for car involved in deadly hit-&-run

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - State police are looking for the vehicle involved in a deadly hit and run.

Officials say the crash happened late Sunday night in the Caney area of Pike County.

The victim has been identified as Merl Adkins.

State Police officials say Adkins was trying to cross US 23 when he was hit by multiple vehicles. The crash shut down US 23 for several hours.

Adkins was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say they are looking for the vehicle involved that fled the scene. It's described only as a black car with front-end damage.
