Laurel County, Ky (WKYT) - The Laurel County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened on Earl Howard Road, 12 miles south of London, early Friday morning.
The victim, 61-year-old Everett Morgan, was apparently shot several times in the chest at his Corbin home. Deputies say Morgan called a neighbor to report the shooting, and the neighbor had called 911.
Deputy Kirk Mays responded to the scene and says he found Morgan sitting on a couch in the living room. Deputy Mays says another man was found lying, semi responsive and highly intoxicated, on the floor. He says a handgun was found on the floor nearby.
Deputies arrested the man found lying on the floor, 64-year-old Michael Wayne Whitehead, for assault. The Sheriff's Office says a motive for the shooting is undetermined.
