LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The opening day of the spring meet at Keeneland is in the books.

Officials were concerned the ongoing construction project on Versailles Road would cause traffic problems around the track. Thousands of people came out to enjoy the sunshine and fun, and it appears the traffic wasn't any worse than normal.

"There couldn't be a better for opening day at Keeneland," says Durman Baxter. "This is not only the place to be in Kentucky. This is the place to be in the world!"

"I can't wait to get out here and place some bets and see my friends. This is what we look forward to twice a year," says UK student Sean Robinson.

The spring meet continues through Friday, April 26.
