LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – We’re hearing from Trent DiGiuro's father about the recent EOP request from Shane Ragland’s live-in girlfriend.
Ragland was convicted in the1994 sniper-style shooting death of the UK football player.
Now, he's accused of attacking his girlfriend who says she's in fear for her life after repeated threats from him.
Trent's father, Mike DiGiuro, says he's not surprised and even though it's been nearly two decades since his son was killed, nothing seems to have changed when it comes to Ragland's behavior.
"He said that he was going to kill this woman (err) she said that he said he was going to kill her and the last time he said he was going to kill someone he did," said DiGiuro.
Ragland's initial murder conviction was overturned.
He pleaded guilty to second degree manslaughter and served fewer than four years.
"It's the system that we have,” he said. “It turned out the way it did. We can't let the fact that he's out walking around destroy our lives and we're not going to let him win."
Ragland is set to appear in court Monday.
