LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Ben Isaacs said he's had a couple of issues with crime at his home on Niagara Drive. That's why he put up security cameras. Unfortunately, those cameras didn't catch the moment when he says someone shot his dog right in his backyard.
Ben Isaacs says he was preparing a family cookout Saturday afternoon. He stepped in the house for a moment and heard a pop.
"At first, I didn't really think much of it. Maybe a firecracker or soemthing, then I heard my dog yelping so I looked out the window and I saw him there crying," he said.
Isaacs said it appeared someone had shot his one-year-old Jack Russel-Chihuahua mix named Diesel. He was hit in the ribs.
"We're hanging out outside on a nice Saturday and to shoot my dog was kind of a shock to the system," said Isaacs.
Thankfully, Diesel's doing alright today. You can see where he was hit by the bullet or BB, but it doesn't appear to give him too much trouble. Isaacs says his main concern is his family's safety.
"Angry. You know, these kids don't realize. One of my kids could have been playing out here, it could have ricocheted off something. Anything's possible," he said.
Isaacs says Diesel's got a vet appointment tomorrow to see if there's anything left of whatever he was shot with.
