FBI searches apartment in ricin letter case

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Federal and local law enforcement are searching for another person suspected of sending letters containing the deadly poison ricin.

The letters were postmarked Tuesday in Spokane, Washington and addressed to the downtown post office and the adjacent federal building. But authorities have not said whether they were addressed to anyone in particular.

Investigators in hazardous materials suits searched a downtown Spokane apartment Saturday. There's no word of an arrest or of anyone being questioned, but the FBI says it's "not actively looking for a subject" and they are not asking for the public's help.

As little as 500 micrograms of ricin, an amount the size of the head of a pin, can kill an adult if inhaled or ingested.

There have been no reports of illness connected to the letters.
