Fallen police officer honored in benefit poker run

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - The roar of motorcycles could be heard from Richmond to Bardstown on Saturday where folks gathered in honor of a fallen police officer.

The second annual Jason Ellis Benefit Poker Run began at Joe Hill's on Saturday morning.

Officer Ellis was on his way home in May of last year when he was shot and killed while removing debris from the Blue Grass Parkway.

More than a year later, no one has been arrested for his murder.

Matt Schrader helped organize today's poker run.

"It's just amazing, you know, as much time is passed how many people will come and donate their time and are interested in finding and catching who did this," Schrader says.

Money raised will go to the Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial Fund.

There was also a Ride to Remember this morning in Richmond, in honor of officer Ellis and deputy sheriff Chad Shaw, of McCracken County.
