Fire destroys Scott county barn, kills five dogs

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Firefighters battled through the cold to extinguish a barn fire in Scott county Friday afternoon.

The fire broke out around noon on Cincinnati Pike north of Georgetown. Several horses were able to escape the flames but five dogs died in the fire.

The barn is close to the fire department. Crews were alerted to the flames by a driver.

"Somebody stopped by the station, reported a barn on fire," says Chief Mike Fuller with the Scott County Fire Department. " By the time they stopped we started getting reports of the run."

Fire crews are still looking into what exactly lead to the fire.
