Five students treated after Laurel County bus accident

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Five students were transported to the hospital with minor injuries after the school bus they were riding in dropped off the pavement and into a ditch in Laurel County.

The Laurel County Sheriff's department responded to the accident on KY 1394 about 10 miles North of London around 3:30pm Tuesday.

Officials say the Laurel County school bus tried to avoid a vehicle on a narrow stretch of road when its tire went off the pavement, causing it to drop into the ditch.

Officials say over 50 students were on the bus at the time, five of them were transported to St. Joseph Hospital in London with minor injuries.

The driver of the school bus, Cleve Angel, was uninjured.
