BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Friends Lisa Proctor and Lauren Crawford remember when they used to go to Cox Variety Store in Auburn as children to look at all the toys.
They could buy something reasonably priced on their own; their parents could buy more expensive gifts and might even buy a few household items such as a needle and thread or light bulb.
While Cox is no longer open, the two women longed to have a store where similar memories might be created.
The Toy House opened a little more than two months ago.
The store operates on consignment with new or like-new toys and even some novelty collectible toys. It also has strollers, car seats and baby beds. When items are sold, the proceeds are split 50-50 with customers.
