Funeral service set for runner killed in fire truck crash

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Funeral arrangements have been set for a young runner killed in an accident involving a fire truck.

A Tennessee newspaper reports that a memorial service will be held in Knoxville on Saturday for Lauren Roady. The day will begin with a two-mile run/walk in Roady's honor, followed by her funeral and burial.

Police say Roady, 27, was crossing North Broadway at Main Street on Saturday night as a fire truck turned through the intersection.

Fire officials tell WKYT that witnesses reported that Roady may have walked into the side of the truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are asking anyone else who may have seen the accident to call them.

Roady was an attorney in Washington, D.C. Friends tell us she grew up in Knoxville and visited Lexington often to compete in equestrian events at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Donations may be sent in Roady's honor to:
