Gas leak causes tense moments in Paris

PARIS, Ky. (WKYT) - Things are getting back to normal in Paris after a gas leak caused some problems earlier Tuesday night.

At one point, Main Street was shut down between North Middletown Road and the courthouse.

Dispatchers also say some people living in a nearby apartment building had to be evacuated as a safety precaution.

Columbia Gas officials tell us the leak happened when someone trying to install a fence hit the line, while digging into the ground.

Columbia Gas officials say that person did not inform them about the dig, before starting.

Officials have now repaired the leak, and Main Street has reopened. Evacuations will also be lifted.

No injuries have been reported because of the gas leak.
