Georgetown hopes to have new president by June 30

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) - A committee looking for a new Georgetown College president is aiming to make a recommendation by June 30.

Board of Trustees Chairman Earl Goode says he's optimistic about reaching that goal to replace William H. Crouch Jr., who is leaving the post after 22 years.

Goode told the Georgetown News-Graphic one candidate is receiving scrutiny, but it isn't former Gov. Martha Layne Collins. Collins has been the subject of a social media effort to promote her for the job.

Collins said she has not been contacted by the search committee, nor has she reached out to the panel.

Goode said the committee will continue its review of the current candidate next week.
