SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A crime alert in Georgetown after a violent restaurant robbery.

The holdup happened at the Dairy Queen over the weekend. The restaurant manager tells WKYT this is the fourth robbery there in just a few months

Investigators say just after midnight Sunday, a night shift employee was closing up by himself when he heard a knock at the back door. The general manager of Dairy Queen says when the employee opened the door, there was a gun in his face and a man telling him to go to the safe.

While at the safe, police say the robber grabbed the employee and shook him repeatedly, telling him to get the money faster. Police say the robber ordered the employee to lay on the ground as he left the restaurant.

"Nobody expects anything like that," said General Manager, Drew Land. "Especially not by opening up a back door; just not thinking. It's a mistake anyone could have made. I'm just glad it didn't lead to us planning a funeral."

Georgetown police say they tracked a scent to a parking space at a nearby business, they think that's where he got into a getaway car.

Police say the robber was last seen wearing a black coat, black pants, white t-shirt around his head and face and aviator sunglasses.
