Former Lincoln County sheriff found safe after Golden Alert issued

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - UPDATE: The current Lincoln County Sheriff, as well as the Lincoln County Emergency Management director tells WKYT former Lincoln County Sheriff and judge-executive has been found in a Kroger parking lot in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Sims went missing from his home around 3am. We're told he drove away from his Crab Orchard home in a small, white Ford pickup. Sims is in his 70's, and suffers from Alzheimer's Disease.

We are told he is safe.
A Golden Alert has been issued for an elderly man, who is a former Lincoln County Judge-Executive, as well as a former Lincoln County Sheriff.

The current Lincoln County Sheriff, Curt Folger, tells WKYT John Sims drove away from his Crab Orchard home around 3 a.m. Sunday. He is believed to be in a small, white Ford pickup, with a black tool box on the back.

Sims is in his 70's. We're told he has Alzheimers Disease.
