History on display Saturday in Frankfort

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Historical Society is putting state history in the spotlight Saturday at the Governor's Derby Celebration in Frankfort.

Visitors to the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History will be able to make and decorate Derby hats, then explore the center.

A HistoryMobile will be open outside the center displaying a new exhibit about Kentucky during the Civil War. The exhibit features artifacts, touch-screen activities and personal stories.

The Kentucky Military History Museum will also be open and hobby-horse races will be held on the lawn of the Old State Capitol.

The Governor's Derby Celebration hours Saturday are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT.
