LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A man was sent to the hospital after an early morning home invasion.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office is investigating the assault and theft on Brannon Mill Road early Saturday morning.

Police said two male subjects, wearing masks, entered the victim’s residence at 6:30 a.m. and struck the male victim over the head with a blunt object numerous times causing serious injury.

"I hate that for Earl because Earl, like I said, he's not in good shape and he's disabled and he's got a bad heart. I hate that for Earl. I really do," said James Sizemore, a neighbor on Brannon Mill Road.

The victim is at the St. Joseph Hospital in London for treatment. The hospital will not release his condition.

Officials have learned that the victim's money from his wallet and 1998 grayish blue mustang were stolen from his residence.

Sheriff's deputies tell us they are following possible leads in this robbery, assault, and theft case.
