Hot and humid weekend

Friday shaped up to be mostly sunny and warm with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Overnight expect lows in the mid 60s with mostly clear skies. A mid-summer weather pattern will take hold over the next several days. High temperatures through the Father's Day weekend will be in the upper 80s with mostly sunny skies. In addition to the increased heat, a strong southerly flow will increase our humidity levels as well. The combination of the hot temperatures and higher dew points will lead to stray afternoon showers through Monday. Any shower that develops will mainly be over Southern Kentucky.

Don't cancel any outdoor plans for the next several days but just be aware that a stray shower may develop during the peak heating of the day. The bigger concern will be the hot/humid conditions. Remember to drink lots of water, wear light-colored clothing, take plenty of breaks, and allow your pets indoors to cool off in the air conditioning.

Have a great weekend and Happy Father's Day!
