Identities of three who drowned in Nelson County released

NELSON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Authorities say three people were killed after a car got stuck in high water in Nelson County and was swept down a river.

State Emergency Management spokesman Buddy Rogers told The Associated Press that the bodies of three people were pulled from Rolling Fork River Nelson County Sunday morning near New Hope.

Nelson County Coroner Field Houghlin has identified them as Cindy Newberry, 36, who was driving the vehicle, Christopher Gray, 51, and Don Paul Allen, 61.

Officials say Five people were inside when the vehicle got stuck in high water, and two were able to get out. Those two, authorities say, were taken to the hospital and are being treated for hypothermia. Their conditions are not known.
