LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - It appeared the heaviest damage on the early model Chevy Impala was on the front left side of the car.
A man living nearby told police he was working on the car for someone, and investigators said they have yet to contact the owner of the vehicle.
When firefighters got all the flames put out, they noticed some things about the scene that appeared off.
One first responder said it looked like the fire started in multiple places on the car.
A Lexington Fire Department arson investigator was called in to take a closer look.
While he was there, he took pictures of the scene and gathered swab samples from the pavement around the car. He also loaded several evidence bags into his vehicle before leaving.
We asked the arson investigator what his thoughts were on the preliminary investigation. He said there's reason to believe the fire could have been set intentionally.
