KSP trooper injured after being hit by car near Lebanon Junction

LEBANON JUNCTION, Ky. (WKYT) - A Kentucky State Police trooper was injured on Saturday after being hit by a car.

A Louisville station reports the crash happened on Interstate 65, traveling northbound, near Lebanon Junction.

The trooper was identified as Sam Shacklette, 20, a veteran with the department who is set to retire on Saturday night.

They say Shacklette was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital. Kentucky State Police tell us he is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

There were no other injuries reported.

The driver of the Ford SUV that struck Shackette is Louis Dunn, 43, of Bonnieville.

Dunn was cited for failure to give right of way to emergency stopped vehicle, operating on an expired license and no insurance.

Officials say that northbound lanes of Interstate 65 were closed near Exit 102.

State police are continuing their investigation.
