About a dozen members of the Kentucky National Guard will prepare to deploy to Afghanistan.
Members of the 613th Engineer Facilities Detachment based in Springfield leave Wednesday. Once in Afghanistan, the group will help train and advise the Afghan National Army and police engineers.
Since September 11, 2001, more than 14,000 Kentucky National Soldiers and Airmen have deployed in support of the global war on terror.
