BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - A south-central Kentucky city has expanded its use of text messaging to inform residents about events and activities in English and Spanish.
The Daily News reports the city of Bowling Green, which had one category, added three more last week so that residents can get information about road closings, special events, neighborhood activities and group meetings.
Public Information Officer Kim Lancaster said the city already had one category called "join golf" with about 150 subscribers. Lancaster said that number is expected to grow as the weather improves.
Neighborhood Services Coordinator Karen Foley called the service another way to quickly disseminate information.
