Body found in Lake Ellerslie identified

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The body of a man discovered in the waters of Lake Ellerslie on April 6th has been identified.

The Fayette County Coroner has identified 45-year-old Michael Sanderson of Lexington.

The cause of death is still unknown.

Funeral arrangements for Sanderson are pending.

A groundskeeper with the Lake Ellerslie Fishing Club discovered Sanderson’s body, which was badly decomposed, in the lake. He said that he first noticed a pair of shoes floating in the water about fifteen feet from shore. When he realized what he was really seeing, he called the police.

The part of the lake where Sanderson was found is not open to the public.
