Laurel County crash causes car to burst into flames

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) -- A crash this afternoon sent a car into a culvert and caused it to burst into flames.

Deputies say it happened this afternoon on Kentucky 4-72.

Deputies say Alen Wombles, of Manchester, lost control, ran off the road and the car erupted into flames.

Deputies say Wombles was driving too fast and was trying to avoid a motorcycle at the time of the crash.

They also say Wombles was under the influence at the time, and was driving on a revoked license.

Both Wombles and Crystal Roark, also of Manchester, were transported to UK Hospital with serious injuries.

Deputies say meth was also found in the car.

Charges are pending for both.
