UPDATE:
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The owner of this house tells WKYT he got a call all home owners dread. That his house, on Drummond Road, is on fire and heavy smoke can be seen from almost a mile away.

More than a half a dozen fire fighters responded to the scene.

Neighbors throughout the community flooded the streets--trying to see if anyone was inside.

WKYT is told by the assistant chief that the house was empty at the time of the fire.

He tells us the fire started out back sometime around 3:00 p.m., the cause still being investigated.

Witnesses describe for us what they saw.

"Once it started to spread out you could see the flames coming out of the windows and coming out of the front area the attic. It was scary," said witness, Sunshine Seiler.

"I went to the upstairs window and I saw the start of the fire and it just kept getting worse and worse and the flames were really high," said witness, Victor Cox.
