LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police are investigating vandalism at a small cemetery on Whitney Avenue.

Cove Haven Cemetery in Lexington has experienced vandalism before, but the manager tells WKYT it's getting out of hand. She says they were hit by vandals again this week.

A tombstone here or there has been knocked over, the back hoe is constantly damaged, and their fences are driven through by cars.

On Thursday, a service was impacted by the vandalism because the cemetery's back hoe wasn't working.

Ruthan Fields says she has been managing Cove Haven Cemetery for 16 years now, and she says she refuses to let this place become a parking lot with her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother all buried there.

Fields says, "It upsets me because all of us have just a moral duty to respect the dead, and this has no, it's senseless."

The manager reported the damage to police, and police tell us they need the public's help in catching who's responsible.
