Lexington police say man tried to lure two young girls into his truck

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are looking for a suspect they say tried to lure two young girls into his pickup truck Saturday evening.

Lexington police say the mother of one of the girls told police that just before 7pm her daughter and a friend were at a playground in the Millpond shopping center when they saw a man watching them from his truck. The man then got out of his truck and asked the friend to come with him.

Police say the girls then ran to the other side of the building, where the man followed them, then drove away.

Police say the girls described the suspect as a 30 to 40 year old white male with dark hair and bags under his eyes. They said he was wearing a yellow plaid shirt with green and gray stripes, blue jeans and tennis shoes. The girls described the truck as a dark red Dodge Ram pickup truck with silver exhaust stacks and a 'J' in the license plate number.

This is the second luring attempt in three weeks in this part of town. Police say on August 22nd, a 14-year-old girl was walking to the bus stop in the same area when a man in a red pickup truck with chrome stacks tried to make her get into his truck. She ran to a neighbors house and called police. The man was also described as a white male with dark hair.
