Local shelters packed as cold temperatures settle in

The best thing you can do in this kind of weather is stay inside. However, that is not an option for everyone.

The Community Inn stocked up this week on supplies and food in preparation for the cold temperatures. "For a lot of people, this is the only place they have to go," explains organization director Ginnie Ramsey.
"It is dangerous for people to be outside, we don't want to let our fellow Lexington brothers and sisters stay out in the cold."

The shelter offers people three meals, a hot shower and place to change their clothes. "If it wasn't for them, I'd be on the street," explains Marcus Ward, "I'm homeless. A lot of people are my same situation. It's not something I chose to be, but circumstances have me in this position. If it weren't for the Inn, I don't know where I would be."

Ramsey says they are in need of new towels, sheets and other donations such as toiletries. For more information on how you can donate you can go to their webpage at www.godsnest.info
