Madison County woman charged after child's teeth yanked from shelf

A woman is charged, after a child was taken to the hospital for an injury to his mouth.

Casandra Trickler, 18, is charged with criminal abuse of a child after an investigation.

Police say the 1-year-old got his teeth entangled in the wiring on a metal shelf in the bathroom. Police say when Trickler couldn't easily remove the child from the wiring, she yanked the shelf from the child's mouth, resulting in his lower teeth to become damaged. The teeth had to be removed by a pediatric dental surgeon. He was taken to Baptist Health: Richmond, then later to UK Hospital.

Trickler is facing charges from the Madison County Detention Center.
