LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The suspect in a high profile murder case in Lexington has been ruled competent to stand trial.

Marty Roe is accused of gunning down Dr. Martha Post outside her Lexington office in 2011. Police said Roe was seen on surveillance video approaching doctor Post's van the night she died.

In court on Thursday, mental health doctors for both the Commonwealth and defense testified about Roe's competency. The experts for both sides agreed after numerous tests and observations Roe is competent to stand trial.

Roe's defense team did ask the judge for a continuance, the judge denied the motion. The trial is scheduled to begin on January 22.

Dr. Martha Post was a well known dermatologist in Lexington. She leaves behind her husband, Dr. Robert Truitt and three daughters.
