LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- A man is behind bars after police say he assaulted an officer.

Wednesday afternoon Lexington Police responded to a call in the Woodland Park area about a man making threats towards a woman.

When police arrived they say the suspect punched one of the officers and then took off.

Police had to shut down Euclid Avenue while they searched for him.

Police arrested the Gabriel Witherby Wednesday afternoon.

"Charges are pending, he does have outstanding warrants for his arrest and there will be charges involved for assault on an officer," said Lt. Raymond Roller with Lexington Police.
