BEREA, Ky. (WKYT) - Police say he's armed and dangerous, and they are trying to find him. They say a man in Berea approached two women Saturday night and demanded cash. One of the potential victims told police he stuck a gun in her side.
"The first incident happened right around 7:30 at the Dollar General on Richmond Road," explained Sergeant Jake Reed, "asked if he could jump off his car, if she could help him out. While they were talking he actually grabbed her purse."
Police say another man intervened before he could steal the woman's purse, and the person attempting to rob the woman drove away.
"The vehicle was like a royal blue Chevy Cavalier. They described it as having an odd kind of paint job, maybe like a spray paint paint job on it."
After the incident in the parking lot of the Dollar General, police say the man went over to Long John Silver's and tried to do the same thing.
"A lady stated that she came out of the business and she went to get into her vehicle and she saw a man walking in the parking lot, didn't think anything about it, but he came up to her and actually put a gun to her side. And he demanded money from her, and she told him that she didn't have any money, and he demanded it again then she started to scream, and he took off running."
Sergeant Reed says he ran across the street toward the McDonald's parking lot.
"She happened to mention seeing a blue Cavalier parked across the street at the McDonald's. We believe it's the same person."
They believe the man's about five foot nine inches, in his 40's, with sandy blonde or light brown long hair, possibly cut like a mullet.
"Anybody that has a weapon and is gonna brandish it to anybody, we consider it dangerous. He didn't get anything at the time, which we're grateful for. No one got hurt, which we're very grateful for, but he's somebody who we need to catch up with," said Sergeant Reed.
