MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - We have new information Wednesday afternoon about a string of burglaries across a couple of Kentucky counties.
Police have charged Jarred Pitman on several counts of burglary in Garrard and Madison Counties.
Madison County sheriff's deputies recognized Pitman after his picture was on the news and linking his black SUV to several witness accounts from break-ins throughout the county.
In hearing that the burglar in Garrard County was shot, Madison County sheriff's deputies decided to check UK Hospital, where they found Pitman.
They then interviewed him, and we are told he confessed to several break-ins in Madison County.
Pitman was found to have sold several pieces of jewelry to pawn shops across the region, including Lexington.
Other items, such as electronics, were found with people that Pitman had sold to or traded with.
Pitman has been charged with one count of first degree burglary, seven counts of second degree burglary, one felony count of theft by deception, and two misdemeanor counts of theft by deception.
"Sometimes one investigation turns into several. And amongst us, making a drug bust last week and finding some stolen property at that residence, it ended up linking back to Mr. Pitman. So all in all, it's been a good day's work for the sheriff's office," said Deputy Willard Reardon, with the Madison County Sheriff's Office.
Pitman's companion, Dessie Hyatt, has also been charged with a felony for receiving stolen property in this case.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office tells us they are working to get back the stolen items to their original owners.
